Happy Blogiversary to Me!— It doesn't seem that long ago, but The Fly Bottle is now over a year old. (It was November 23, to be exact). This is a pretty low-volume, low-traffic site, and Instapundit and others get more hits in a day or so than I've seen in a year…. nonetheless, I think it's nice that I've had 40,000 hits since I've started.

As I mentioned over at DeLong’s blog, I’m pretty sure Brooks’ very existence is proof of nihilism.
Love the new look. Much improved. Actually readable type now. A little NY Times-y tho’.
There’s a trick to deciphering this Brooks column.
Step 1. Go to your bookshelf and get out your copy of Irving Kristol’s Neoconservatism: The Autobiography of an idea.
Step 2. Turn to page 92.
Step 3. Holding the open book in your hands, gently lick the pages while re-reading Brooks’ column.
If that doesn’t work, try sitting on a copy of Leo Strauss’ An Introduction to Political Philosophy and return to Step 1.
Don Arthur’s right. I get it now!
FYI, the Strauss method seemed to work better, but that might be due to recency effects.
“Say what you will about the tenets of modern American liberalism, at least it’s an ethos.”
